Here’s my monthly rant about self-love, self-worth, loving yourself and all that wonderfullness that only about 4% of us do. At present this *very* exclusive club has zero members because as always I’m in the “hating on myself” club, however after a few months of just wandering around aimlessly chasing my tail, the next few months are going to focussed on me, me, me and making myself feel more like me, the old me. The gal who would sashay into a room and stare every bugger in the eye with a glint and a smirk, she’s gonna be back, I promise ya.
So I’ve set up my own club and anyone (and hopefully everyone) will want to join, because why the hell wouldn’t you want to be part of the self-love club? There’s only a few rules and you’ve got to all be good little people and try and follow them all of the time, we got this:
Be Kind To Yourself
Appreciate what you have every day and be kind to the body that you have which is healthy and happy. Don’t pull and tug at your curvy hips or poke the bags under your eyes (guilty!) or look at yourself with disdain, start to focus on the bits you love and how you can love every other part of you too.
Share the Love
I’d probably also recommend to be kind to others, because ya know, it’s not fun being a bitch your whole life and that negativity will feed back into your negativity so share the love instead. I know I sound like a broken old bint around this point because I probably mention it is 76.2% of my blogs, but build people up, tell people they look great, you love their dress or their hair is super sassy. You will leave them on cloud nine all day, I promise…. and it gets them one step closer to joining the self-love club.
Pamper Your Bad Self
Everyone loves a pamper session and it doesn’t have to be anything specific, just whatever floats your boat. Things I’m partial too, include a silly hot bath, with wine, candles, bath bombs, bubbles and my phone. I also love a face mask or just cuddling up with a hot water bottle, magazine and a hot chocolate…. come to mumma.
Social Media Detox
Get on your SM channels instantly and delete everyone who makes you feel shit….. because as long as you are comparing yourself to them, you will forever feel like shit. And I hate to break it to you, but they don’t actually have washboard abs, smother skin that chocolate egg or hair slinkier than a unicorn.
Listen to Your Body
I’m a lazy, lazy gal and I’m not ashamed to admit it, but recently I’ve been tying to actually listen to what my body wants and craves. Diet culture has been instilled in almost all of us from such a young age I think the ability to actually listen to what your body wants has been beaten the hell out of us by a big ole slimming world shaped stick. If you really want a pizza and glass a wine then have it, if you fancy fruit salad or an omelette for dinner, have it, for gods sake have it. If you fancy going for a walk, go and if you don’t then just stay in a have a little pamper. You don’t have to answer to anyone, YOU ARE YOUR OWN PERSON.
So get on board and join the cub, because in the words of Ru-Paul “If you can’t love yourself, then how the hell you gonna love somebody else” Can I get an amen?
