Hello my succulent honey bees, I’m laying in the bath thinking about how delightful my Sunday is going to be, we’re talking seeing little people and wedding fayres…. can life get much better?
I’ve been on a bit of a self imposed shopping embargo recently (yes I may have bought 3 sale items from sainsburys last week, but that doesn’t count, because it was a boo hoo you’re back at work, please don’t cry present to myself) however mand has really come up with the goods to make up for my lack of shopping, god I love her. Basically it got me thinking about how important it is to shop independent. You’re helping someone local girl (or boy) boss at life, I’m pretty sure the feeling they get in their heart is a lot more satisfying for them than it is for the cashier at topshop who’s just sold her 8th pair of Jamie jeans of the day! You’re supporting local and giving an individual a chance to succeed on the risk they’ve taken.
I got this delightful dress from Auburn boutique in beccles and it was maybe a bit more than I’d spend at £55, but you do get what you pay for. You also get a personalised service from the owner, Lauren who has the most wonderful warm, helpful personality without being pushy (because bloody hell I hate that when shopping). They also stock a wide range of sizes and that’s always important to me because there’s nothing worse than going into a little boutique and soon realising nothing will fit you, which results in you backing out of said shop rather awkwardly, while the snooty, size 4, willowy shop assistant looks down her nose at you.
And guess what the best thing is….. you’ve got something individual YAY! When a shop only buys in a handful of one item the chances of spying someone else wearing said item is slim to none and that’s what I’m talking about. I would also like to point out I have 4 compliments about this dress yesterday (admit they were all my family nenebers and are biased, but I’m taking it anyway)
So next time your wandering in your local town/city pop into that little shop you’ve always walked past, because you never know what you might find and you never know who’s day you might make!
